The shelter, like others has seen a rise in occupancy, and an increase in the length of time residents are staying because it's become difficult to find work.

The executive director of the shelter, which is based at 733 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville, says in addition to the rise in occupancy, donations have dropped by30 percent.

But an anonymous donor has come to the rescue, agreeing to match any contribution if it's made by the end of the day Friday.

Those interested in making a donation can contact the Lake County Haven Shelter, at (847) 680-5408.
