WOODRIDGE, Ill. (WBBM) -- Some people are hoping to ring in the New Year as instant millionaires.

Cash registers have been ringing all day, as people try for the Mega Millions jackpot. Since no one has matched all six numbers, the jackpot rolled over, and now it stands at $242 million.

WBBM Newsradio 780's Dave Berner reports a 7-Eleven in Woodridge was busy all Friday morning. Jan, who works at a desk just behind the counter clerk, says she's going crazy.

Some people think they too might go crazy if they win.

"I'm going to have a damn heart attack before can cash in!" one man said with a laugh. "That's exactly what would happen!"

The jackpot has been without a winner for 14 consecutive drawings dating back to early November. The chances of winning are one in 175 million.
