Residents, Pets Escape Algonquin Fire

ALGONQUIN, Ill. (STMW) - Residents and pets escaped a fire that damaged a home late Saturday in northwest suburban Algonquin.

Firefighters responded at 11:44 p.m. Saturday to a blaze at 610 Circle Drive in Algonquin and found a chimney fire that was spreading to an attic, according to an Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection release.

All residents and pets escaped before firefighters arrived and nobody was injured, the fire protection district said.

The fire was extinguished at 12:09 a.m., and investigators determined the fire was accidental, the release said.

A damage estimate was not immediately available Sunday afternoon.

Fire personnel from Carpentersville, Crystal Lake and Huntley assisted.
