Michigan contacted NU head coach Pat Fitzgerald about its head coaching vacancy, but Fitzgerald will not pursue the opening and will stay with the Wildcats, a Northwestern spokesperson confirmed to 670 The Score Thursday evening.
Reports surfaced Thursday that Michigan had interest in Fitzgerald after the Wolverines fired Rich Rodriguez Wednesday.
Fitzgerald is 34-29 in five seasons as Northwestern’s head coach. He led the Wildcats to its their third straight bowl game this season, a first for the program.
