One In Custody After Shootout With Police

CHICAGO (STMW) - A male was taken into custody late Wednesday after trading gunfire with police in the Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. No one was shot in the exchange.

About 9 p.m., a male suspect fired shots at officers, who returned fire, in the 12000 block of South State Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

Neither the officers or the suspect was struck by the shots and the suspect was taken into custody, Gaines said.

Further details were not immediately available, according to Gaines.

Calumet Area detectives and the Independent Police Review Authority — which investigates all police-involved shootings — are investigating.

A message left with an IPRA spokesperson was not immediately returned early Thursday.
