Person Of Interest Released After Woman Shot In Face

CHICAGO (STMW) - A person of interest who was being questioned about a shooting that wounded a woman in the face in the South Side Calumet Heights neighborhood late Friday has been released without being charged.

The shooting happened about 10:33 p.m. on the 9100 block of South Harper Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

The victim, a 43-year-old woman, was shot in the face, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. Initially police said she was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, but according to an updated report she was listed in serious condition, Mirabelli said.

Mirabelli said Sunday that a person of interested in the domestic-related shooting was released without being charged

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
