As Underdogs, Bears Right Where They Want To Be
Despite playing at home, the Chicago Bears are a 3.5-point underdog in the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers. And that's just where they want to be.
"And they're good at it," Dan Pompei said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "I want to say they've won seven games this year when they were underdogs, it may even be eight. So certainly you have to respect the fact that they know how to win a game they're not supposed to win."

To say that the Bears are comfortable as the underdog is putting it lightly. The players constantly feel that they're disrespected by local and national media, and they take an "us against the world" approach because of it.
"They embrace the mentality, and you wonder sometimes if they're almost the kind of team that doesn't do so well when they're supposed to win" Pompei said. "We saw them lose games against the Seahawks and Redskins earlier this year when they were favorites and expected to win. So they're probably right where they want to be."
But it's not like the Bears aren't being given a chance to win this game. At 3.5-point underdogs, as of Wednesday, this is a game that could really be won by either team without causing much of a shock.
"You know, this is a game, let's face it, it's a coin flip," Pompei said. "I mean it's probably going to come down to a play or two at the end of the game. I don't see how you could look at this game and come up with any other conclusion."
If the game does come down to a single play or two at then end, then the Bears are probably happy to have Devin Hester on their sideline.
