Man Accused Of Stealing $9,000 From CPS Board

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man who was arrested in Aurora is accused of misappropriating more than $9,000 in funds belonging to the Chicago Public Schools Board, police said.

Edmund Jones, 29, was charged Tuesday afternoon with official misconduct and theft, both of which are felonies, police said.

Jones allegedly misappropriated Chicago Public Schools Board funds by depositing two checks totaling $9,160 into his personal account and cashing a check in the amount of $144.75, police said.

Jones, of an unidentified address, was arrested at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in Aurora at 2024 Fox Pt. Circle, police said.

It was not immediately known when the alleged crimes occurred or what position Jones held.
