Man Seriously Injured In Englewood Fire

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person was seriously injured overnight when a fire broke out in a building on the eastern edge of the Englewood neighborhood.

The fire broke out around 12:25 a.m. Thursday at 5620 S. Princeton Ave., according to Fire Department spokesman Will Knight.

One person suffered smoke inhalation injuries and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center, Knight said.

The man, 46, also suffered some lacerations and was transported in serious condition, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said. No one else was found in the building, he said.

The fire was out by 12:45 a.m., Knight said. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
