Homeless Man Arrested, Can’t Sleep In Jail

ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) — Police said a homeless man who was arrested after refusing to leave the northwest suburban Elgin police station’s lobby Monday told them he wanted to sleep in the building’s jail.

But he didn’t get his wish. Officers said they previously banned Rex Sommers, 54, from hanging out in the lobby because he had been seen drinking there and that he seemed to be drunk on Monday when he refused three orders to leave.

Sommers was charged with criminal trespass but then was released with a notice to appear in court on Feb. 22 — and was escorted out of the building, officers reported.

If the man wants to sleep in jail then let him. Better him there than harrasing someone else in his drunken stupor.

Problem is that these individuals continually show up at the police stations — harrass the patrons or sit there smelly drunk selves next to them –and if the person falls down while at the bulding or in a cell — we the public have to pay the ensuing lawsuits.

Thats pretty bad when you cant get arrested. I say they should go out and round up all the homeless and move them to a warmer climate…..like mexico. Lets give them illegals to support…… Oh thats right, they dont support their own either
