CHICAGO (STMW) – A man was driving too fast when he crashed into a bridge support and flipped the car he was driving Thursday morning on the West Side, police said.

just after 6 a.m. , Viktor Haruk was behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi Galant going west on Grand Avenue when he struck the base of a bridge support at 4915 W. Grand Ave., according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

The collision caused the car to roll over into the eastbound lanes. Haruk suffered cuts from shattered glass, but otherwise was not injured, and was not hospitalized, the officer said.

Haruk, of the 2600 block of West Iowa Street, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

The posted speed limit is 30 mph, Mirabelli said.
