Blizzard Watch: Will Chicago Public Schools Cancel Class?

CHICAGO (CBS) -- As the Blizzard of 2011 takes shape, one key question for every parent of a Chicago Public School student: Will there be school on Wednesday?

CPS officials said Monday that they will make that decision on Tuesday afternoon.

The last time Chicago Public Schools canceled classes was in 1999--in the aftermath of a snowstorm that dumped about 21 inches of snow on Jan. 1-3.

A Blizzard Warning was issued on Monday afternoon, and forecast models are calling for anywhere from 12-22 inches of snow, with winds gusts up to 45 mph. Most of that accumulation will happen Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
