Circuit Court Clerk Cuts 170 Employees
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown has been forced to hand out pink slips, as she seeks to meet demands to cut her office's budget.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's David Roe reports, Brown's office laid off 170 employees Monday, as part of the budget cutting in county government.

State law requires that the county pass a balanced budget by Feb. 28. The County Board and elected officeholders must first close a $500 million deficit.
Brown is not saying where the cuts are being made.
Her office is the official record keeper of county court cases -- everything from murders to foreclosure lawsuits.
Brown says the cuts will put a strain on the ability of her office to perform its duties.
