WXRT Pays Tribute To City, Declares 'Chicago Day' March 2

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago's finest rock, WXRT-FM, is paying homage to all things Chicago, with a full day of programming dedicated to the city.

"Chicago Day" kicks off on 93XRT March 2 at 9 a.m. with Lin Brehmer and Mary Dixon and continues through 9:00 p.m.

Mayor Daley, Jerry Reinsdorf, Robert Falls, Dan Hampton, Little Steven Van Zandt, Joe Shanahan, Patti Smith, Tony Fitzpatrick, Michael McDermott, Tim Tuten, Ramsey Lewis, and many more will be heard speaking from the heart on what Chicago means to them.

Chicago Day will also showcase a wide range of music from Chicago artists past and present, primarily from the rock, blues, and folk genres.

"The passion, the loyalty, and the commitment by the people who live here help make this the greatest city in the world. On Chicago Day, we will try to express in words and music what this city means to each of us," Norm Winer, WXRT VP of Programming.
