The Chicago Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews has been named the NHL's First Star for the month for February. In the Blackhawks' 13 games, Toews tallied 21 points (six goals, 15 assists), which led the league in scoring.

Toews was a big part of the Blackhawks' 8-3-2 record over the course of the month, he registered points in 10 of 13 games and had a +13 rating. The Blackhawks ended the month on a five-game winning streak that's propelled them to the fifth spot in the Western Conference.

On the season, Toews ranks 11th in the NHL with 61 points (23 goals, 38 assists) in 61 games and is sixth among NHL centers in face-off winning percentage (57.4%).

The Second Star of the month was former Blackhawks' goalie Antti Niemi, who also signed a contract extension on Tuesday. Niemi was 10-2-0 with a 1.89 goals-against average, .934 save percentage and three shutouts in 13 appearances. Niemi currently plays for the San Jose Sharks.

The Third Star was the New Jersey Devils' goalie Johan Hedberg.
