Man, 21, Charged With Sex Abuse Of Teen

NILES, Ill. (STMW) — An underage drinking party at a north suburban Glenview hotel Feb. 27 resulted in charges against a 21-year-old Niles man, who police said had sexual contact there with a teenage girl.

Roland Moji Martinez, of the 7900 block of North Caldwell Avenue in Niles, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, renting a hotel room for consumption of alcohol by minors and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Bond for Martinez was set at $50,000. He is next scheduled to appear in court March 8.

Police said two teenage boys walking on the 4200 block of West Lake Avenue admitted to officers who stopped them that they had consumed alcohol in a room at the Courtyard by Marriott, 1801 Milwaukee Ave. in Glenview

Officers found Martinez in the room with the intoxicated girl, who was between 13 and 17 years old.

One of the boys officers had stopped was issued tickets for minor in possession of alcohol, interfering with a police officer and violating curfew. The other was issued a ticket for curfew violation.

All three youths were turned over the custody of their parents.

It’s not abuse if it’s concentual.

  • Hey Anonymous

t’s not abuse if it’s concentual.

Hey IDIOT – How can it be concentual when the teenage gilr is hammered. Heres to hoping your mom, sister/girlfiend gets raped next time she drunk,,,my gosh your a numb !

    • Offended

That is a terrible thing to say. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!

  • db

It’s not consensuall when girl is 14-17 and drunk. Perpetrator is 21. That is just wrong..

  • Lisa Ladonski

I’m not blaming the girl, but what was she doing at a hotel drinking party? This man should have been protecting her from people like himself.

    • Sally

She sounds like an average teenager. I very much doubt it was her first time. If the guy was 14-17, would that make it OK?

  • Anonymous

Do you know if they knew each other for years? I don’t think that girl is innocent.
But the guy should be in a jail.

  • anonymous..

Was the girl fully clothed when the police found her? That is the question. They cannot just assume that she was “raped” that night. Even if the guy and the girl did have sexual interactions before that date, it would not have been sexual abuse if it was consentual. That night, however, if he had done a sexual thing to her, even if she wanted it too, it would be sexual abuse, only because the girl was intoxicated. I’m pretty sure this was not just a random guy off the streets. The guy and the girl had to have known eachother for some amount of time. Either way, it was wrong to have the alcohol, but, the sexual abuse cannot be totally determined due to the little information given.

I’ve known the guy and he wouldn’t ever do that. and yes the girl was his girlfriend for almost a year now.

  • Anonymous

Hah, i know all of them.

i know the guy too, since it was his fault for having the alcohols he shouldnt be there for sexual abuse,, nothing happen that night.. looks like the girl doesnt even know hes in jail and suffering a lot.. he just turn 21 two months ago and i think its consensual since they have a relationship over a year now.. he needs justice too.. he dont belong in that place.. if only the girl can say or just help him a little bit.. he might lose everything he has..

    • for roland

I agree with you. I know roland AND his girlfriend. I don’t think he deserves that big of a punishment. Him and the girl has been dating for almost a year, i believe, and both of them are in love. I think the girl should SPEAK UP so that way there are MORE information in the story. Roland could be punished for contributing the alcohol with the minors, but being named as “aggravated” sex abuser? I think that’s too much. I think there is too much assuming and accusing in this and they need to know the TRUTH.

14-17 aren’t allowed to have a hotel room by themselves plus they aren’t allowed to have a possession of alcohol, so no. but if you’re talking about having a sexual intercourse then it shouldn’t be a problem as long as they’re in a private room? i mean everyone can buy condoms, right?

  • ??

the girl shud do something, but i knw her. she has tried very hard.. she called bak the detectives asking to speak with them about the case. they refused to let her come in or even go to court. that is unfair. she cares SO much about him, its crazy. she seems so depressed lately.. idk wat to do to help her anymore. It was obvious they were in love. she hasnt lost any feelings for him.

  • Anonymous O.o

The girl hasn’t tried anything? no no no, shes tried EVERYTHING. She almost went to as far as going down to the police department, and they won’t even put anything in from HER side of the story. Nothing “sexual” happened nor rape. He shouldnt be punished so harshly for this, they’ve been together for a year now, it was consensual.

  • ...

yes.. i agree with everyone. he shudnt be put in jail. the girl has helped so much. somebody needs to get him out. and try to contact the girl to help her and him, instead of keeping her out of it.
