New Job For Ex-Congresswoman Melissa Bean

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Former U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean lost her seat this past November, but she didn't stay unemployed for long.

Bean has been named the new chief executive officer of the Executives' Club of Chicago, a 100-year-old business forum headed up by 46 CEOs and senior executives of local companies.

The club made the announcement Tuesday, and said Bean would officially join them on March of 21.

Executives' Club board chairman and CME Group CEO Craig Donahue said Bean has entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to local businesses. She worked in the high-tech industry before being elected to Congress in 2004.

But she lost her bid for reelection by 291 votes this past November to Tea Party Republican Joe Walsh.
