1 Killed, 1 Hurt In Rogers Park Drive-By

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police continue to investigate a drive-by shooting in Rogers Park that left one man dead and another wounded over the weekend.

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. Saturday, as two men stood on the street in the 1600 block of West Lunt Avenue. Shots were fired from a vehicle and struck them both, police said.

Killed was Edward Townsend, 18, of the 1300 block of West Estes Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A 31-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to a leg and was reportedly in "stable" condition at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, police said.

The block where the shooting happened is dominated by courtyard apartment buildings and other dense housing.

Belmont Area police detectives are investigating the shooting. No one was in custody as of Monday morning.
