Versteeg Won't Join Blackhawks At White House

Kris Versteeg helped the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Philadelphia Flyers in six games to win the 2010 Stanley Cup Championship, but now Versteeg is member of that very same Flyers team.

As a member of the last year's Blackhawks squad, Versteeg was invited to the White House to join the current team, and other former players, to meet with President Barack Obama on Friday.

"It's pretty cool to get the chance to go the White House, but after thinking about it I just decided to take a pass and let those guys enjoy themselves," Versteeg told the Toronto Sun. "I'm still buddies with [the Blackhawks], but I haven't been on that team for almost a year."

The Blackhawks traded Versteeg to the Toronto Maple Leafs as part of their salary crunch over the offseason. Earlier this season Toronto sent Versteeg to the Flyers for their first and third round picks in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

"I'm on a team [the Flyers] that might play [the Blackhawks] again. Who knows?" Versteeg said.
