Cowley: Sox-Cubs Rivalry Not What It Used To Be
The first 2011 matchup in the Chicago White Sox-Chicago Cubs rivalry will take place on Friday. In the past, the rivalry has been just as fierce on the field as in the stands, but that may not be the case anymore.
"It just seems the last couple years, I mean the fans still go at it, but it seems like it's been dimmed down," Joe Cowley, of the Chicago Sun-Times, said on the Danny Mac Show. "Ozzie [Guillen] is still going to go to Wrigley and talk about the rats in the batting cage and do that whole shtick. But it's gotten to the point where you don't hear the players go at it like they used to, the Sean Lowes, the [Bob] Howrys, that was coming from the South Side.

"I don't know if it's the '05 World Series, that kind of one-uped them and said 'we don't really have to have this angst towards the Cubs.' But, you know, the big leader in all of this was Ken Williams, and now he's businessman Kenny...And I still think he feels that way, I just don't think he'll say it anymore, not for political reasons, but there's other things going on."
