Teahen Welcomes Competition For Third

Last season the perception was that Mark Teahen was going to be the Chicago White Sox's third baseman heading into the season. This season, however, there appears to be more competition at the hot corner.

Along with Teahen, Brent Morel and Omar Vizquel are battling for playing time at third base, and that's just fine with Teahen.

"Truthfully, I welcome the competition," Teahen said 670 The Score. "You never want to be in a position where you're not getting pushed, so I welcome it. It's not the first time I've come to spring [training] and had to compete for a position, I also know worrying about other guys or whatever else isn't going to help me at all. I just need to focus on what I need to do to prepare and get ready. And at the end of the day, whatever they decide, they decide. I just need to be prepared to as productive as I can be.

"Last year didn't go as planned, got off to a slow start and then missed three months breaking a finger. There's a lot of things I wanted to do last year that I wasn't able to do so I'm just preparing as well I as can this year so I can make sure this year is a good one."
