CHICAGO (STMW) - A man who was seriously injured in an early Saturday drive-by shooting in the Garfield Park neighborhood died at a hospital hours later.

Phillip McGee, 32, was shot at North Homan Avenue and West Fulton Street and was pronounced dead at 5:38 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The man was standing outside when somebody in a passing vehicle fired five shots about 12:40 a.m., a Harrison District police lieutenant said. McGee was struck in the chest and right leg.

A witness heard tires screeching as the vehicle fled the scene, police said.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
