Report: Bears To Work Out Cal Safety

The Chicago Bears continue to prepare for April's NFL Draft. And according to a report, the team will work out Cal safety Chris Conte.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Tribune, cites a league source that says Conte will meet with the Bears in addition to the Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers and Seattle Seahawks.

A former cornerback, Conte ran a 4.52 40-yard dash at the NFL's Scouting Combine and recorded 18 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds. He's listed as 6-foot-2 and 197-pounds.

Danieal Manning and Josh Bullocks are set to become unrestricted free agents once the NFL labor situation is settled.

Last year the Bears selected safety Major Wright in the third round, it was the Bears' first selection in the draft.
