Detectives Seek Shooter In West Side Slaying

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man who was shot in the head on the West Side Saturday morning has died, police said.

The 41-year-old man was on a sidewalk at 10:53 a.m. when a "known offender" walked up to him and shot him in the head at 3459 W. Augusta Blvd., according to police who were citing preliminary information.

Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said the victim, who he said was 30, was initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, but police said he was pronounced dead there at 11:21 a.m.

A spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office was not notified as of 11:55 a.m.

Police said the victim lived in the 200 block of North LaPorte Avenue.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses and looking for the shooter, but no one has been arrested.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
