Motorist Shot On Eisenhower Expressway
CHICAGO (STMW) - A motorist was shot multiple times while driving on the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) early Saturday on the West Side.
About midnight the victim was driving a Chevrolet Lumina east near Central Avenue when a dark-colored and possibly older model Ford Explorer pulled alongside him and someone inside shot him multiple times from a passenger window, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Jeff Kashmier.
The motorist was somehow was able to continue east and exited, making it to Sacramento and Roosevelt, according to Kashmier.
Paramedics responded to that intersection 12:34 a.m. and the victim was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis.
Traffic was stopped on the inbound Eisenhower following the incident, but shortly before 3:30 a.m. all the lanes were again open to traffic, a District Chicago trooper said.
Kashmier said no one is in custody as of 10:45 a.m. but ISP is continuing their investigation.
