Illinois State Chamber of Commerce president Doug Whitley says the business community needs to get the attention of the state General Assembly.

"Workers' compensation is a high cost in this state, and we've got to do something about turning the curve on the high costs in Illinois, so that people want to grow jobs," Whitley said. "The governor's got the idea, but he hasn't quite got it to the finish line."

What Whitley and his constituents want is for action to be taken before the General Assembly adjourns next month.

Some businesses in Illinois say their workers' compensation costs exceed what they pay in taxes.
