CHICAGO (STMW) — A man reportedly jumped to his death from a high-rise building on the Near North Side on Thursday morning.

Police were called at 10:24 a.m. because a man, who appeared to be in his 30s, was found dead outside in the 600 block of North Lake Shore Drive near a high-rise hotel, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

A death investigation is under way to determine whether the man jumped or fell, according to Perez.

Fire Department personnel responded to a call of a person who jumped from a building at 600 N. Lake Shore Dr., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death but could not provide identification of the victim Thursday night.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
