One Fatality After Motorcycle Crash

KANKAKEE COUNTY, Ill. (STMW) — Speed appears to be the cause of a crash Wednesday that left a motorcyclist dead in Kankakee County.

Jason Cox, 23, of Bonfield was driving a Suzuki motorcycle at Route 102 near 4150 West Road when the motorcycle struck a Nissan Maxima turning left into a private driveway, according to a news release from Illinois State Police District 21. Speed appears to be a contributing cause in the crash.

Cox was taken to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee where he was later pronounced dead Wednesday, according to the release. The driver of the Nissan Maxima was not injured.

No citations were issued.

Illinois State Police are investigating.

While a loss of life is a tragedy, every spring we see morons emerge on motorcycles and ride as if they are immortal. It seems they are not.

    • lo

People like you make me sick. Someone dies and all you have to say is a rude comment. Go f yourself you ingnorant SOB

  • Dan

Another SOB turns left in front of bike and the papers blame the biker. We know whos really to blame. RIP my man…

  • Blaze

One less idiot off the streets.

  • Mow em down!

    I agree with George.

  • Mow em down!

Bikers are like the Hollywood clan,Look at me ain’t I cool, the only thing is most of them are sitting on their brains.

  • Mike

I see the idiots are out in full force on this page turning left in front of the motorcyclist is akin to pointing a loaded gun at the motorcyclist both are illegal.

The ones sitting on their brains are the rude posters here

  • Jessica

wow….i can’t believe these comments. you have no idea of the whole story. it wasn’t just speed that contributed to the accident. the car pulled out right in front of him and he didn’t have time to stop. my friend is dead and all you can do is be so incredibly ignorant. he was wearing his helmet and maybe if the OTHER driver looked before pulling out, my friend would still be here! you should be ashamed of yourselves. rest in peace jason. love you.

  • Daiv

    Wow, ignorance.
Put your family or friend on a bike and see if you feel the same way.
While you can’t completely blame eather person here, its cars not paying attention that kill motorcyclist. A Bike can only maneuver so much
Blaze… for the record he was a good friend of mine and never hurt anyone. He was a caring person who was loved my many MANY people.
Put your dad or brother sister mom friend in the same situation and see how it feels your stupid ass!

  • linds

The car saw 4 bikes pass before jason did…he should have looked for more. If 4 bikes pass most likely there is more. Stupid idiots don’t lok so don’t blame jason. We all love you jason!!!

  • Gary D

R.I.P. Jason, Will always remember ya bro!

And for all you idiots talking down on him, you need to get your facts straight and know the real story before talking dirtballs!!

  • Ray

Yes I agree, EVERYONE needs to get all of the facts straight. That means getting it from both sides of the story, not just one. One person’s life ended way too soon, but another person’s life will be changed forever. Everyone needs to stop judging everyone and get to facts. This is a bad thing that happened. It changed everyone who knows all. So People Start judgeing the other!
