APPLETON, Wisc. (STMW)– A 24-year-old Wisconsin man was charged Wednesday with the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl from the Northwest Side that he met through an internet chat room.

Alan J. Reh, 24, of Appleton, Wisc., met the girl a couple of weeks ago in an internet chat room and then began talking with her on the phone, Appleton Police Lt. Jeff Miller said. Reh drove to Chicago at 3 a.m. on Wednesday and picked up the girl from her Northwest Side home. He then drove her back to his apartment where he sexually assaulted her.

Appleton police were notified Wednesday afternoon of the missing girl and contacted Chicago Police, who were able to find Reh through the girl’s phone records, Miller said. With the cooperation of the apartment manager, police entered Reh’s apartment and found him with the girl.

Reh was charged with first degree sexual assault, using a computer to facilitate child endangerment, and child enticement, which are all felonies. He faces 25-60 years in prison for the sexual assault felony, Miller said.

Where were the parents and why didn’t they utilize the parental controls feature on the computer? How did she get out of the house without her parents knowing where she was going? Seems to me the child should be removed from this home and the parents charged with child endangerment. Parents, check on your children. Know where they are, what they are doing and with whom as YOU are responsible for them.

That’s great. Their child is assaulted by this pervert, and now they need to listen to idiots like Daaa and Roberta Walker judge them.
That’s right. YOU are the idiot. If an 11 year old wants to go in a chat room, parental controls or not, they are going to do it.
The solution isn’t to bar them from the online community. The solution is to teach them what is and isn’t appropriate, and make sure you have an open line of communication so that the child will alert the parent when there is a pervert on the internet.
My parents didn’t “allow” me to ma$terbate to porn. Yet, somehow I did it from the age of 12. I’m willing to bet you have done something your parents didn’t approve of either.

Yes, unfortunately many children will not listen to their parents today, which is exactly why they need to be alert to what their children are doing. An 11 year old may have the smarts to chat; but they aren’t mature enough to handle adults that prey on them. Parents are LEGALLY responsible for their children until they reach the age of 18 for a reason. And, there is a BIG difference between you masturbating in the privacy of your home and chatting online with a pervert waiting to rape or sodomize you at THEIR home. I just love people like you that need to call people names when you don’t agree with them; just shows how immature you are – you can’t even get WAKER right.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl told police she told Reh, “she was 18 years of age and that the defendant told her he was 24.”

In court records, she says they had told each other that they loved each other several times.
