Cops: Caretaker Abuses Disabled Girl, Mom Captures It On Video

CHICAGO (STMW) — A 56-year-old West Englewood neighborhood woman was charged with physically abusing a disabled 13-year-old girl after the child’s mother captured the alleged incident on videotape, police said.

The alleged abuse occurred March 28 in the 3800 block of West 47th Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The 13-year-old disabled girl’s mother was able to videotape Akemi Johnson physically abusing the child, Zala said. The girl was not hospitalized and Zala declined to say what Johnson allegedly did.

Johnson, of the 6100 block of South Marshfield Avenue, was charged with one felony count of criminal abuse or neglect, Zala said. Johnson appeared in bond court Saturday but court information was not immediately available.

The victim suffers from cerebral palsy, according to a police source, who said she was battered and her hair was pulled.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.

Jail is too good for her. Thank God the mother was smart enough to tape it; now it’s up to the judges and the court system to punish this “sicko”. Stick her in a cell and throw away the key.

One of the most infuriorating things to me is abuse–and of a disabled person? What’s up with that?

take this old sea hag witch out and burn her at the stake…..

  • So sad

It is sad to say this person worked with disabled children for years before this…This is a shame. She desrves to be treated just the way she treated that child, I can only hope that her cell mates treat her that way..
