Expect Street Closures, Bus Reroutes For Shamrock Shuffle Runners

CHICAGO (STMW) - As an estimated 30,000 runners race around the Loop Sunday morning in the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle, expect some street closures and CTA bus reroutes.

The runners start at Jackson and Columbus and will head north to Grand, then back south via Rush, Hubbard, State, Jackson and Columbus; head north to Grand; back south via Rush, Hubbard, State, Jackson, DesPlaines, Van Buren, Jefferson, Harrison, Michigan and Roosevelt; and finish on Columbus, a release from the city's Office of Emergency Management and Communication said.

Street closures along the route begin at racetime and are expected to reopen by noon.

Some streets were already closed as early as Friday morning but additional street closures in the Grant Park are begin early Sunday morning and will be reopened by 3 p.m., including:

• Columbus from Grand to Roosevelt Road
• Roosevelt from Michigan Avenue to Columbus Drive
• Jackson from Michigan Avenue to Lake Shore Drive
• Monroe from Michigan Avenue to Lake Shore Drive
• Congress from Michigan Avenue to Columbus Drive

Traffic Management Aides will be deployed to direct traffic around the race, the release said.

CTA bus service on 22 downtown routes may experience intermittent service delays and temporary reroutes due to the race. Transit riders should visit www.TransitChicago.com for more details.
