ELMWOOD PARK (STMW)-- An Elmwood Park man was found dead inside his car from an apparently self inflicted gunshot wound to the head on the Northwest Side Sunday afternoon.

Officers received an anonymous call at 12:14 p.m. alerting them to the incident at 3455 N. Oconto Ave. and found the man dead inside a 1998 4-door Honda of an unidentified model that is registered to him, in the 2700 block of North 76th Court in Elmwood Park, police said.

The identity of the 50-year-old man is being withheld pending family notification but he was dead on the scene inside a vehicle at the Oconto address, according  to  the Cook County Medical Examiner's  office. The victim suffered an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

No one else was inside the car and no other injuries reported, police said. The car's windows were not broken. A gun was recovered.

Foul play was not suspected and police said a suicide note was found at the man's home.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Grand Central ARea detectives are investigating.
