CHICAGO (CBS) – Five people were hospitalized Friday after a traffic accident on the city’s Southwest Side.

The wreck occurred about 10:30 a.m. at 53rd Street and Western Avenue, and sent five people to hospitals in fair condition, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.

Four were taken to Holy Cross Hospital and one was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park, Knight said.

An Emergency Medical Services Plan I, which automatically sends at least five ambulances, was called for the crash and cancelled at 11:20 a.m., Knight said.

Further details of the crash were not available.
