MARKHAM, Ill. (STMW) – A woman is dead and two other people were injured in a chain-reaction crash Friday night on the Tri-State Tollway near south suburban Markham.
The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. Friday on the northbound Tri-State Tollway (I-294) by 159th Street near Markham when a vehicle crashed into the back of a semi truck, Illinois State Police Tollway District Sgt. David Schneider said.
A second northbound vehicle then swerved in an attempt to avoid the initial accident, but instead crashed into the rear passenger’s side of the first vehicle, Schneider said.
A passenger in the swerving vehicle was killed in the crash, Schneider said.
