Low pay tops the list nationally, being a major concern for 14 percent of workers.

But looking just at the Midwest, more people are worried about losing their jobs, at 13 percent. By comparison, low pay hardly registers in the Midwest, with only 6 percent of respondents concerned about it, while it topped the list of concerns in every other region of the country – the Northeast, South and West.

Those surveyed also said commuting, unreasonable workloads, annoying co-workers and bosses, poor life-work balance and lack of opportunity for advancement were causing stress.

The research concludes that most employers are aware of the need to address rising employee stress, and says those who don't will see lower morale and productivity.
