Wennington: Korver Needs To Be More Aggressive

CHICAGO (WSCR) Kyle Korver has hit some big shots so far in the Chicago Bulls' first round series against the Indiana Pacers. Down the stretch, when the Bulls have needed a big three-point basket, Korver has been there.

But there's room for Korver to take even more shots, and begin to impact the game with his shooting.

"I would always like to see shooters be more aggressive," former Bull and current radio analyst Bill Wennington said on the Danny Mac Show. "And Kyle, I think, is so unselfish at times and he wants to pass the ball, he really does. He wants guys to get dunks at the basket and layups. He's always looking to get the easier shot.

"I think he does [need to be more aggressive]. I think he needs to come off the screen a little but more, thinking shot first, pass second, a lot of times he's thinking pass first."

Korver's passing has opened up some opportunities for the Bulls to score along the baseline. While those are good opportunities, as teams breakdown more film over the course of the playoffs, they'll begin to take away that pass.

"You can see that [the Pacers] are starting to play the pass first," Wennington said. "They're jumping back into that passing lane, weak-side help is coming over and jumping back on the screener...So [Korver] needs to come off a screen thinking shot first.

"And when he started doing that [Thursday] night, it really started opening things up. And he's a very good three-point shooter, but he's a phenomenal six to 12-foot shooter."
