ELGIN (CBS) – An investigation is underway in Elgin after a suspicious substance was mailed to a court building.
The Elgin Fire department says a clerk in the Illinois Appellate Branch Court opened an incoming envelope about 11:20 a.m that turned out to be filled with white powder.
Firefighters were called in and 28 people were taken to hospitals only as a precaution–no one was ill and no one was hurt.
The substance is being analyzed.
