Elgin Courthouse Target Of Suspicious Package

ELGIN (CBS) -- An investigation is underway in Elgin after a suspicious substance was mailed to a court building.

The Elgin Fire department says a clerk in the Illinois Appellate Branch Court opened an incoming envelope about 11:20 a.m that turned out to be filled with white powder.

Firefighters were called in and 28 people were taken to hospitals only as a precaution--no one was ill and no one was hurt.

The substance is being analyzed.
