COUNTRYISDE, Ill. (CBS) – A fire broke out Monday morning in a garage in Countryside, snagging traffic along the Stevenson Expressway but causing no injuries.

As CBS 2’s Kris Habermehl reports, the fire was contained to a kitchen area at the rear of a garage at 7101 Burr Oak Lane in Countryside. It was out by just after 6 a.m.

The family escaped safely, and firefighters succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the house.

But during the fire, traffic on the Stevenson slowed as onlookers stared out at the smoke. Staging was along 71st Place right along the expressway.

Can’t wait till gas goes to $20.00 per gallon, then only real drivers, not car operators will be on the road. No more Camry’s, Accords or Hyundais to clog up the roads.

  • Truth

And we all know the people who drive Camrys, Accords and Hyundai’s cannot drive anyway.

  • Stay On Topic Please

What does this fire have to do with the price of gasoline.

    Stick to the story people!!!

My 5 year old has a better attention span.

A real driver would focus on the road and not a distraction. Second, if gas was at $20.00 per gallon, even if there were rubber neckers, there would not be those Camry’s, Accords and Hynduai’s ic to slow down the Stevenson.
