Police: Bus Fatally Strikes Woman In Streeterville

CHICAGO (STMW) – A private bus fatally struck a pedestrian Tuesday night in the Streeterville neighborhood, police said.

The bus struck the woman at 6:52 p.m. at East Illinois Street and North Columbus Drive, said police News Affairs officer Daniel O’Brien, citing preliminary information.

The woman was initially taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said. Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The bus remained on the scene, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has not been notified of the death as of 9 p.m.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit remains on the scene Tuesday night.
