VALPARAISO, Ind. (STMW) – A Union Township, Ind., man has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl and disseminating nude photos she sent to his phone.
James Richard “Jimmy” Gore, 21, is scheduled for an initial hearing at 2 p.m. Thursday on felony charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and possession of child pornography.
Porter Superior Court Judge Roger Bradford is expected to set trial dates and bond at the hearing.
Gore faces six to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
The incident happened during winter break for the schools, court documents state.
The girl told police she texted Gore on Dec. 20, 2010, at a cell phone number that someone told her was for his younger brother.
The texts got more sexual before she learned she was communicating with Gore and not his brother.
The girl accused Gore of persistently asking for nude photos of herself, which she sent.
They then made arrangements for him to come to her home Dec. 21, 2010.
The girl asked him to leave because she thought it was a bad idea given the age difference, but he wouldn’t, and he began kissing her on the couch.
She told police she didn’t intend for it to get sexual but knew he had a temper and as afraid he might rape her if she said no.
Her photos soon began to circulate afterward, she said.
Gore told police that he asked for a photo of the girl because he didn’t believe it was her texting him, but she then sent him two nude photos later.
He denied sharing photos.
Gore also said he went to the house to see what to get her older sister for Christmas and accused the girl of initiating sex, saying he didn’t know her age.
