Teen Boy In Custody After Firing 31 Shots Near School

CHICAGO (STMW) – Police say a 15-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly firing 31 shots near a Pullman neighborhood elementary school on Wednesday.

The teen was arrested near West 118th and South La Salle streets about 2:30 p.m. after officers found him with a gun near the Songhai Learning Institute at 11725 S. Perry Avenue, police said.

Police found 31 spent shells near the school. The incident happened while students were still in school, but no one was hit by any of the bullets, they said.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating and charges were pending against the teen at 8 p.m.

  • Mr. Justice

I don’t think he was a law abiding citizen, so all you anti-gun people can just remain calm. The bad guys or in this case the “being groomed to be a bad guy” will always obtain guns.

  • Leroy Goldberg

Gun probably belonged to his parents or grandparents.

  • JACK

Aren’t the NRA and the ELEPHANTS proposing that ANYONE can care a concealed weapon ANYWHERE ?

  • Lee

Jack is a moron. If it is parents they are responsible for their firearm. These laws are already in place. We gun nuts just want to be able to do what criminals already do.

  • Jamall

This little criminal gangster should be put away permanently. The first step to fixing our black homie problem. The photo is misleading, CBS must think we are all stupid.

Someone needs to ask Richie Daley why his anti gun laws didn’t stop this poor little persecuted and oppressed homie from having a gun. He’s 15 years old,did his parents know he was going out for some target practice? If so,why didn’t they tell him not to go and shoot by the grade school ? 31 spent shells and he didn’t hit anybody! That just goes to show the need for the CPD to open up their firing range after school and on weekends so these fine law abiding, punks can learn how to shoot and hit something. There was a time, about 4 decades ago that all of Pullman and the Roseland area was a great place to live, raise a family, and grow up.Then the natives moved in and here’s just a small example of the result. Why don’t we hear Jesse talking about things like this ? There’s no money in it for him, that’s why.

  • Ed Gould

This guy is going to be a hero aboung the pro gun people.
Since he didn’t hurt anyone I guess you could chalk it up to target practice.
Whether you are pro gun or anti gun I think the least we could do is to keep all guns out of kids hands that are below 18. It just came to me one way to encourage kids to stay in school, so you have to have a HS diploma to get a gun.
