Teen Boy In Custody After Firing 31 Shots Near School

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police say a 15-year-old boy is in custody after allegedly firing 31 shots near a Pullman neighborhood elementary school on Wednesday.

The teen was arrested near West 118th and South La Salle streets about 2:30 p.m. after officers found him with a gun near the Songhai Learning Institute at 11725 S. Perry Avenue, police said.

Police found 31 spent shells near the school. The incident happened while students were still in school, but no one was hit by any of the bullets, they said.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating and charges were pending against the teen at 8 p.m.
