White Sox Lose Again, Get Swept By Twins

CHICAGO (WSCR) The White Sox couldn’t stop the bleeding Wednesday, losing to the Minnesota Twins 3-2 as a giant nine-game west coast road trip looms.

The Twins got a pair of RBIs from Jason Kubel, and Nick Blackburn earned his first win in a month to sweep the brief two-game series. John Danks’ hard luck continued as he fell to 0-5 despite only giving up three runs, two of which could have been considered unearned.

The White Sox are now 4-17 in their last 21 games and 1-9 in their last 10 home games. At 11-21, the White Sox have the worst record in baseball.

Alex Rios’ third home run in five games tied the game 1-1 in the third inning, but the White Sox fell behind again in the sixth after no one covered first base on a bunt by Matt Tolbert. With Denard Span on first, Tolbert simply tried to sacrifice him to second with a bunt to the third base side of the infield. Paul Konerko charged in from first on the bunt, but second baseman Omar Vizquel covered second base and no one was at first to take the throw from Mark Teahen.

Justin Morneau then hit a sacrifice fly to right to move both runners up and Kubel followed up with a sacrifice fly to left to score Span in what otherwise would have been the third out of the inning. Rene Tosini then scored Tolbert on an RBI single.

The White Sox came back with a run in the eighth as Alexei Ramirez scored on Paul Konerko’s sacrifice fly and they threatened with two runners on base in the ninth, but Juan Pierre popped out to right to end the game.

The White Sox are now 6-24 in their last 30 games against Minnesota and are 2-13 in their last 15 against the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field.

chris ronji is afraid of ozzie

Sox need to do something! Anything is better than nothing. Certainly Ozzie needs to go! Leadership is need to fix the mess. Kenny seems to be asleep at the wheel too. Ownership need to step in and get someone NEW! This team is an embarrassment to fans and to the city. Worse than the Cubs! OUCH!

Kenny: gone! Ozzie: gone! Walker: gone! Joey: gone! Hell, fire Coop too!
Don’t fire the third or first base coaches – they haven’t been able to do anything!! Above all, however costly, start trading these useless contracts!!
It’s preferable to rebuild with unknowns and prospects than to be mired in the septic of the AL Central with these old, whipped dogs and big donkeys.
