CHICAGO (STMW) – A man was shot multiple times Wednesday afternoon on the South Side.

The 45-year-old man was shot about 4:15 p.m. near East 51st Street and South Indiana Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Anne Dwyer, citing preliminary information.

He was taken in serious condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with gunshot wounds to the kneecap and jaw or neck area, police said.

Police said video surveillance at a corner gas station captured images of a silver Dodge minivan approach before the man fell to the ground after being shot.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody.
