High School Senior Boasts Lifelong Perfect Attendance

VERNON HILLS, Ill. (WBBM) — A Vernon Hills High School senior is about to do something no other student in her school district has ever done.

As WBBM Newsradio 780’s Mike Krauser reports Kelly Firnbach has never missed a day of school – not a single day, going back to elementary school.

“It’s pretty important; it’s kind of cool,” Firnbach said.

She rarely gets sick, she says.

“I’m very healthy and I do many sports,” she said.

Firnbach is active in cross-country, basketball and track, and she just likes school and likes learning.

“I’m very dedicated to my schoolwork, and being in school has been a part of learning, and it’s cool that not missing school has become such a big influence in my life,” she said.

This is not to say there aren’t bad days.

“Obviously, there are days you’re just like ‘Ugh, it’s another day of school.”

But keeping the perfect streak alive always gets her there.

That is fantastic. Not missing a day of school. There should be more youth as dedicated as this girl. It’s good to hear about something good a youth has done.

    Kudos to Kelly!
