Boy, 9, Shot In Back On SW Side

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are looking for two people who were in a reddish car involved in the shooting of a 9-year-old boy in the Southwest Side Marquette Park neighborhood Friday evening.

The child was shot about 7:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 72nd Street, police said. Earlier information from police indicated the shooting was in the 7100 block of South Campbell Avenue.

The shots came from a car that was red or maroon in color, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. Inside the car were a male and a female, Perez said. Neither were in custody Saturday morning.

The boy was shot in the back and taken to Holy Cross Hospital in "stable" condition. He was later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Perez said.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
