Robbers Swipe $500,000 Worth Of Watches From Jeweler’s Row

CHICAGO (CBS) — Burglars got away with high-end watches valued at a half million dollars from the New York Jewelers store in the Loop early this morning.

The burglar alarm sounded around 5:40 a.m. at the store on Jeweler’s Row, 11 N. Wabash.

LISTEN: Newsradio 780’s Mike Krauser Reports

Police arrived to find several glass display cases on the second floor smashed and expensive watches missing. Some were left on the floor.

Police say there was a large, movable sign placed in front of a window. They believe the burglars put it there so they wouldn’t be noticed breaking in.

There was a similar burglary at another Jeweler’s Row store about a month ago at the same time of day.

  • Doh!

Don’t expect any help from the CPD. They’re useless. Some loser with a badge will waltz in by about noon today, open up his toy detective kit, put on some gloves and tell you to have a nice day. You’ll never hear from CPD again.

  • kay

I am with you on this one. Bunch of lazy fat and obese cops

  • Sean Ryan

@DOH!, Not much CPD can do about an inside job. And you are the loser my friend if you think that CPD are losers! If you believed that you would have used your real name in your posting! So when somebody posts with a phony name who is the Loser/Coward???? YOU!

    • Pothead

Why should he use his real name ? So he can be targeted by Chicagos finest ?
      YEP…….thats what would happen.

    • Hank

No connection to the Sean Ryan, formerly of the CPD, who got fired for selling an assault rifle to a drug dealer, right? That would be ironic.

  • Pothead

I’m thinking they might want to get rid of the large movable sign but , thats just me.

  • Opinions Are Like A Holes

The next time all you CPD haters are in Chicago for some shopping or some summer time fun and are in need of Police assistance, remember your opinions and don’t bother calling for assistance.

I am from CHI-Town and when your calling for help your already dead?

    • Joe Campeche

I think that ‘s out of the question. Would you trust criminals with badges? I wouldn’t call one. There’s no one hating, they’re just speaking the truth. I wouldn’t want to post lies about the police when they are a bunch of crooks. And that’s true, I won’t post my real name…would you?

Insurance Fraud!!! not moving any inventory in this economy, set up a robbery and collect some insurance, just as good as a sale. Then you take those watches and sell them on the street for a quarter of the price.

    • FYI

Most insurance companies will not reimburse a company if the items were left in the show case and not the safe during closed hours.

  • chat422

oh shut up……all of you!!!! Losers….

    • Bill T.

That’s hilarious, HaHaHaHa, I hate police haters !!

  • kay

I never need them cause they never do their job. Dunkin donuts

  • The Real Barbara Streisand

@Opinions — I’ll keep that in mind next time I need a parking ticket or want my sister raped at 2 am. Thanks for the advice. You da man!

  • Alfredo VAzquez

CPD is good for one thing and one thing only collecting paychecks and assaulting drunk girls, and robbing drug dealers and driving Tahoes. Get out of the car (lazy) walk and make your figure known(obese). But it was and will be classified and inside job(just to not work)
