Cars Damaged By Falling Concrete On I-57

OAK FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- State police say large chunks fell from the Cicero overpass on Interstate 57 on Friday afternoon.

A few cars ran over them, causing damage to their undercarriages.

Southbound lanes closed for about an hour, while crews cleaned up the mess and while state inspectors checked out the overpass. They gave it the go-ahead to reopen.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says there is no more loose concrete, but they will check it again Tuesday.
