8-Year-Old Girl Struck By Car While Riding Bicycle

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (STMW) -- An 8-year-old girl was critically injured Wednesday morning when she was struck by a car while riding a bicycle in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

About 7:35 a.m., a 2004 Acura TL, driven by Bradley A. Harding, 39, of Lakewood, was eastbound on North Avenue near Millard Avenue when a bicycle ridden by an 8-year-old girl attempted to cross southbound on North, police said.

The bicyclist collided with the Acura, striking the car on the front driver's side, a release from police said.

The girl was flown by helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.

Harding, who stopped at the scene and has cooperated with police, was not injured, police said. No citations have been issued or arrests made.
