Zombies, Naked Cyclists Hit Chicago Streets

UPDATED 06/13/11 6:50 a.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago must have made quite an impression on tourists on Sunday as 1,000 marching zombies and 800 naked bike riders filled the city.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's Michele Fiore reports, just for fun, starting on the Near West side, about 800 naked bicyclists checked in and got body painted in all the appropriate places, according to World Naked Bike Ride - Chicago organizer Steven Lake.

"We send them to a nearby location where there's body painting and then we gather everybody up and head into the Loop and usually wind up ending the ride in Wicker Park," Lake said.

This time, Lake says they got their biggest reception in the Boystown neighborhood on the city's North Side.

After the event ended, many riders stuck around, despite the chilly, rainy weather, and listened to a DJ.

After a naked bike ride, people hang out. There were things to be seen and not seen. A little past midnight, Lake set down his bag and never saw it again.

The black bag contained Lake's his cell phone, wallet, keys and passport. He set it next to the DJ booth.

"I was, like, 'Oh, where's my bag, I should go get it,' and I went back to where I'd set it down and it was gone," Lake said.

He said he hopes it was taken by mistake and will be returned. If you have these items or know someone that does, please call his roommate Thryn at 847-341-1313, or email Lake at thestevenlane@gmail.com. Or you can anonymously drop it off through the mail slot in the door marked 1549-51-53 on West Chicago Avenue.

As for the zombies, the Zombie March is an annual event starting at Millennium Park, with hundreds of people dressed as zombies marching up Michigan Avenue.
