Man Fatally Shot On West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) - A Garfield Park man was fatally shot Tuesday evening near his West Side home.

The 19-year-old man -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as James Thomas -- was standing on the sidewalk in the 800 block of South Pulaski Road when a gunman approached about 4:45 p.m. and shot him multiple times, police said.

Thomas, of the 4300 W. Flournoy St., was pronounced dead at 5:26 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.

After being shot, Thomas walked to a nearby store, where he fell to the ground, police said.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Tuesday night.
